A minimal reference plugin
Load your tracks, match loudness, and compare using the exact same tools you already use in your DAW.
Kompis lets you use your own analyser plugins on the reference track. Use the tools you already know.
Kompis routes your reference into whatever plugin you want … iZotope Insight, Youlean Loudness Meter, Prism, anything. Your tools. Your workflow.
If you're loaded plugin supports sidechain input Kompis automatically routes your DAW's track to the sidechain
SPAN, Insight, Flux, Nugen, Voxengo, TB Morphit ... anything you already own and know how to use.
If it loads in your DAW, it loads in Kompis.
Kompis gets out of the way. Minimal UI, zero distraction. Just you, your mix, and the reference.
Save your reference tracks and loaded plugins as a preset — and bring them back in one click.
Start every session with your go-to references already loaded and your analyser ready to go.
How much does Kompis cost?
The regular price for Kompis is 49€.
If you're strapped for cash, you can pay what you like with a minimum of 9.99€. Please spread the word about the plugin in return.
Which operating systems are supported?
Currently only MacOS, but I am working on a windows release.
Can I use my DAW's stock plugins?
Probably not, unless they're accessible as standalone VST3 or AU plugins.
Can I overlay spectrums like in other reference tools?
Yes. Load any plugin with sidechain input - TDR PRISM, FabFilter Pro-Q, etc. Kompis automatically routes your track to the sidechain. Just select "Sidechain" as input in your plugin if it isn't already.
I don't own any analyser plugins - what do I do?
You don't need one to use Kompis. You can just use your ears. But if you'd like one, these are all free and excellent:
Do you offer a student discount?
No specific student discount, but you can pay what you like starting from 9.99€ Please only use it if you need to, and maybe tell someone about Kompis in return.
Do you support AAX format?
No, and it's not planned. Kompis comes in VST3 and AU only.
Why is it called Kompis?
Kompis is Swedish for mate or buddy - and sounds a bit like compass. It's meant to be your audio compass, guiding your mix toward the sound you're after.
Is this plugin vibe coded?
No. It was coded by me with some help from AI here and there (turns out having a plugin scan other plugins inside a DAW, without crashing, isn't as straight forward as I thought).
I have a feature request
Send me an e-mail and I'll see what I can do. If it makes sense for the plugin it might very well end up being implemented.
New features will almost always fall behind important bug fixes, since I am currently developing this plugin alone, it could take a while to see a new feature implemented.
I have found a bug
Send a bug report - the link opens a pre-filled email. Include as much detail as you can: OS, DAW, plugin format (AU or VST3), and steps to reproduce.
I try to fix bugs as fast as I can. Being a solo developer, turnaround time can vary, but genuine bugs are always a priority.
My question wasn't answered
